The Institute of Commonwealth Studies’ Emeka Anyaoku Visiting Chair, Professor Susan Parnell, will explore the origins and process of the new global policy commitments associated with the Sustainable Development Goals. She will reflect on what the post 2015 agenda implies for multi-scale governance in general and the developmental aspirations of Africans in particular.

Susan Parnell is Professor of Urban Geography and co-founder of the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town. She has held previous academic positions at Wits University and the School of Oriental and African Studies as well as visiting research fellowships from LSE, Oxford, Durham and the British Academy. She was a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at UCL and is currently Emeka Anyaoku Visiting Chair, University of London. Recent co-edited books include Climate at a City ScaleA Routledge Handbook of Cities of the Global South and Africa’s Urban Revolution.
