Successful conferences directed to a theme on Ministers’ agendas were held at the Conferences of Commonwealth Education Ministers in 2003, 2006 and 2009:

  • An inaugural Conference in October 2003 explored Retention and Mobility of Teachers in the Commonwealth and made recommendations to Ministers of Education.
  • A second Conference in Cape Town in 2006, organised in conjunction with Link Community Development, addressed the potential of school and college linking in the Commonwealth.
  • In Kuala Lumpur in 2009 its third Conference explored responses of the education sector to the Report of the Commonwealth Commission on Respect and Understanding, Civil paths to peace.

In Mauritius in 2012 at 18CCEM the Consortium was responsible for convening a seven-session programme on ‘Connecting Commonwealth Education and Cultures’ in the Stakeholders Forum for civil society and business.

The Consortium has also organised well-attended events at Commonwealth People’s Forums arranged on the eve of the Heads of Government meetings. .
